What is Tenable Nessus?
Nessus is a vulnerability scanner that checks hosts, network devices, applications and configurations against a large library of plugins for known vulnerabilities and misconfigurations. Nessus Professional is aimed at consultants and security practitioners, while Nessus Expert adds external attack surface and cloud infrastructure scanning. A free Nessus Essentials edition allows scanning of a small number of IPs. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.
